The next wellness movement?
A few months ago, we started thinking about preparedness as a cultural signal, an idea that came up while planning our trip to attend Camp DoomsDaddy.
A two-day immersive preparedness camp built around practical skills for uncertain situations, the program is an introduction to emergency medicine, communications, fire, navigation & scenarios most of us hope to avoid but would definitely prefer to be prepared for.
And then we started to consider: What if preparedness is the next wellness movement?
Hello, again from RANGE
Jeanine & Nina here!
Whether you’ve been here for years or just joined us this week, welcome to RANGE.
It’s been a minute since we’ve shown up consistently in your inbox and we thought it was time to change that.
For nearly 15 years, RANGE has been analyzing the intersections between outdoor, active, fashion & culture — observing shifts happening around us all and translating them into ideas, insights and creative direction.
This email will be a direct place for us to share some of that thinking with you.
Preparedness in Outdoor Culture — WeekEnds
For an industry increasingly obsessed with what comes next, @depescemode has spent an unusual amount of time thinking about exactly that.
Pesce is the founder of @thisisrange, the independent forecasting and consulting agency focused on the intersection of outdoor, active, design and culture. Over more than two decades, she has watched outdoor move from a relatively insular performance category into something considerably harder to define: fashion reference, cultural identity, urban uniform, recreational infrastructure and, increasingly, a way of thinking about how we live.
In this episode of WeekEnds WeekDays, Pesce joined WeekEnds co-founders Derek Siegel and Mateo Moreno to talk about what happens next.
